Making of Statement Wakeboard Movie

Everything started with an email from mikel tan. If we (gerry maurer and I) would come over to the phillippines in may 2006, for an cable opening cereomony – CWC – Camsur Watersports Complec! CWC said they will take care to the flights and everything, so we said why not!
First night, chris had the same arrival date than us, we had to stay one night in manila befor we got the connecting flight to Naga City at 7 a.m! So we checked out the nightlife, and it was so much fun that we stayed until 5 a.m in the club, back to the hotel, got the luggage and than straight to the airport! The magic three was on fire!!!
Arrival in Naga we recognized that we were pretty fucked, we just wanted to get to the hotel and sleep. They said the cable is on the way to the hotel, we can just take a short look. It was still early in the morning the water was glassy, and when we have seen this amazing setup with all the obstacles than this perfect conditions we were strongly affected! Dam give us the wakeboards, we have to ride! Forget all the weakness from the night befor, we got now the power to ride all day long, we could not stop, it was just pefect! Always flat water also when more riders are hocked in, and so many things to try. Feelt like a young kid who got this big present which he always wanted! Christmas and birthday together!
The CWC organisation took so good care to us, perfect catering 24/7! Was it the pina colada at lunch time or the 5 star dinner with dancing act and musicians infront of the cable! Next to wakeboarding they brought us to beautiful islands, the vulcano and the best was definitly swimming with the wale sharks!
The wakeboard sessions we had the following days was incredible, because it was not only that we had a perfect playground, CWC also invited all the kids from the neighborhood! The most of us already know each other from previous competitons. It was a big get to gether from the international cable wakeboardscene! The australiens, the americans, all this europeans and a few asians… happy family!
Everybody pushed each other, go for new limits, get new inspirations! We had such a good time to ride with each other, and the good thing was, nobody was in competition with each other, it was just freeride and a little bit of filming!Thank you to Governor L Ray and the whole CWC crew!
